La’Toya is a passionate individual with a diverse background that has shaped her life journey. Originally from Atlantic City, New Jersey, her life has been full of various experiences, courtesy of her military family, leading her to embrace new cultures and environments along the way.

 

For over two decades, she has called the Acadiana area home. After pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, she continued her educational journey by completing a master’s degree in human services counseling with a Specialization in Marriage and Family from Liberty University.

 

Her dedication to fostering strong relationships and empowering others led her to becoming a Certified Marriage Enrichment Facilitator, along with earning the title of Certified Professional Life Coach, and Intentional Leadership and Author Coach. Through these certifications, she has honed the ability to positively impact individuals and couples through various coaching methods and other means.

 

With over twenty years of experience in the human services field, she has held pivotal roles in Therapeutic Foster Care, Case Management, and Behavioral/Mental Health, solidifying her expertise and commitment to making a difference.

 

In April 2018, she and husband took their shared passion to new heights by founding The Family Connection Inc., a non-profit organization that empowers and supports older foster care youth through life prep courses, counseling services, independent living guidance, educational development, and career guidance. Their primary mission is to help families unleash their full potential and gain an understanding of life outside of foster care.

 

La’Toya was recognized as one of Acadiana's top 20 under 40 young leaders in 2018, she actively engages with the community, nurturing thriving relationships. Her involvement with W.O.W (Women of Wisdom) reflects my unwavering dedication to meaningful causes.  She strives to inspire positive change in the lives of those around her.
